Organizational issues were discussed, such as the future of group meeting. There will be a doodle poll, and possibly pizza. Stay tuned.

Summer plans

Kamil

Looking at quantum cellular automata, self-correcting memory and a universality scheme with Lukas.

Paul

Doing topological stuff at MSR.

Steve

Thinking about making AdS/CFT into concrete statements about quantum information.

Tom

Tensor norm approximation, and the de Finetti theorem. Will try to give a review talk on this in a few weeks.

Melanie

Learning quantum computing, and looking at quantum walks on welded trees when some of the branches are missing.

Isaac

Looking at matrix-product states, area laws and Lieb-Robinson.

Dave

f(z) is between 0 and 1, and H_f is diagonal with f on the diagonal. Then try defining <math>M(s) := I - (I- \frac{1}{n}\sum_{i=1}^n X_i) (I-sH_f)^{-1}</math> Doesn't really work.

Rowan

Relating adiabatic optimization to classical simulated annealing. Doing numerical tests.

David

Oracles with internal randomness. Extending a result that (2k classical queries worthless -> k quantum queries worthless) to such oracles.
