Brief Academic Bio
Dave Bacon received his B.S. in physics and in literature with honors from the California Institute of Technology in 1997 and his Ph.D. in theoretical physics from the University of California, Berkeley in 2001. After his Ph.D. he did a postdoc at the Institute for Quantum Information at Caltech from 2001-2004, and then a brief postdoc at the Santa Fe Institute during 2004-2005 after which he joined the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington as a Principal Research Scientist. In 2006, he started his current appointment which is as a Assistant Research Professor in the department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington. In 2007 he acquired an Adjunct Assistant Research Professor appointment in the Department of Physics at the University of Washington.
